Proposal description

As I have mention throughout my updates from my previous proposal additionally to the multi-news site for DASH and DASH team of writers.
We are also launching a new initiative called DASH Global Meetups where
we will be funding meetups around the world.

We already launched a pilot program of this meetup which gained a lot of
enthusiasm by DASHers across the planet. From Nigeria to South America
to the Caribbean we experience a lot of die hard DASH fans with the
energy to put DASH in the hand of many people including unbanked,
disenfranchized and expats that could be benefited greatly by the chance
of using cryptocurrency.

Here is an interview talking about the project during the DASH Conference:

The goal of DASH Global Meetups is to add structure to the meetups and
also create teams of DASH enthusiasts that could propagate DASH to a
higher amount of people.

At the moment we have been able to build these teams and meetups in the following countries:
- Nigeria
- Mexico
- Ghana
- Dominican Republic
- Venezuela
- Colombia
- Haiti

We expect to have other countries jump into this opportunity as the word
gets spread and we want to formally launch the program with a 1 month
payout and a 120 DASH budget for this.

The budget will be divided the following way:
- Groups need to be small but continuous (preferably weekly)
- Implement the DASH for Drink program (reimburse the assistant consumption)
- Print out DASH promotional material during the meetup
- Publish the meeting publicly and be able to take in people from the general population
- Record clips from the meetups and pictures and upload them as proof
- Create a website with the next events or use an open service like meetup.com

Motivate assistant to participate on the DASH community whenever is
through this forum, slack or telegram. Build a core team that can handle
bigger events.

Depending on the evolution of the community it would be able to access
more funds, for an initial team, the budget should be around 80-150 USD
per meetup. For larger meetups it can accept up to 3 DASH. Even larger
or joined meetups can access more depending on the experience and
criteria followed.

Breakdown:
- Management 5%
- Marketing 10%
- Meetups 85%

Here are some of the pictures from the meetups already being taken place:
https://steemit.com/dash/@jza/dash-global-meetups-around-the-world

We understand the high level of administration that involves funding
these meetups across the different time zones, and places. We will
provide more detailed budget breakdowns on how the money is being used on the forums.
We plan to merge this budget in the future with the other budget that is
currently running regarding the DASH Global websites.

Following the steps of our previous budget this will be a 1 time payment
as further test and adjust the guidelines. However I feel this will
also help us learn the demand our program will generate. If there are
excess in the project, it will go into marketing of the program,
otherwise it would be allocated for the next month of the program as this will
be a continuous program like the news site and podcast.

Thanks to DASH Caracas' conferences and other activities, new communities have been born in several cities in Venezuela, and the leaders of these communities are trained and commited to organize weekly meetups, in order to introduce new people to DASH - Digital Cash, DASH Global, and DASH Español.

So far, there is:
1) DASH San Antonio
2) Dashtoneros
3) DASH La Guaira
4) DASH El Hatillo
5) DASH Libertador
6) DASH Valle de La Pascua
7) DASH Cultural
8) DASH Ciudad Bolívar

If DASH Global proposal passes and they sponsor these coomunities, they could hold one meetup each week, with the next budget...

Giveaway: 10 peolpe * 5 USD =50 USD
Beverages and snacks: 25 USD
POP Material: 10 USD (wallet papers, flyers)
Organizers incentive: 10 USD
Total = 95 USD

DASH Caracas assumes the commitment of helping in the guidance of these new leaders and others that surely will appear soon enough.

So, dear MNO's, thank you for considering your positive vote for DASH Global's proposal.

It is suspicious that the comment sections of your proposals are always filled with total newcomers, JZA. It does not inspire confidence. The grandstanding just gets in the way.

That said, meetups by their very nature are decentralized. What's more, the idea that you could manage an entire planet of meetups -- 7 billion people speaking hundreds of languages -- is a farce.

Appreciate the effort, but voting 'no.'
Reply
1 point,6 years ago
I really sorry you're voting no, but this is not a "JZA" proposals, this is a proposals by the community, yes JZA is our spokesperson, because his english as you can see is better than the rest of us. I hope you realize the work we are making for the Dash Nation.
Reply
3 points,6 years ago
As for the newcomers, like most of them say, they are participants form the meetups that we have already started running for some weeks now. They are new to the DASH ecosystem so they might not be commenting on other proposals (we hope they do). But at least they are comenting on this one because it directly relates to their activities. That said, they are not directly newcomers to DASH since they are active other places like the forum, telegram, slack and such.
Other reason is because they dont know much english and it doesnt make sense to comment on proposals in english, desnt mean that they dont have an opinion, but the environment is to english-oriented to bother.
Reply
3 points,6 years ago
I dont think we can manage an entire planet of meetups. The budget will never be enough. But I think we can generate new ones formalize them and bring it into the community. Meetups harvest new ideas to benefit the DASH community, having new ideas brought into DASH is something that in the long run will make DASH better and more diverse.

What JZA's group is doing globally with DASH awareness is amazing. I highly support his proposal. If you are in doubt attend one of his meet ups, sit down with the people he has educated and feel the positive vibe of camaraderie that exists amongst them. Then you will feel and see with your own eyes how this is having positive effects on families within communities around the world. Every great idea starts with one person then spreads. This is changing peoples lives!

With this proposal we can invite other established communities that are not tech related to Dash community. We need more of the young generations to represent us and this is a great way to invite that estabished young communities. We need to be prepared for the launching of Dash Evolution, so we con promote Dash Evolution to the young generations. The people that don´t know criptos don´t trust them and this a great way to win their trust. I encouraged al MN to vote for a yes

So as you know guy Jza is doing a great job for out llr community supporting community around the world. So I think that this proposal is different from what dfn are making the world is so big that dfn can make all work lonely so I think that all your works are great so Mastermind I think that you can have doub but see the work that jza had done in the community and Dash Global and Dash Force will work to expand Dash around the work as you know we want that Dash take the world and these kind of project will benefit for the community. So MNO give your Yes vote for this proposal.

I have no doubt if this proposal get funding will exapand the frontiers of the dash community across the globe. JZA have a proven track record and one of the hard working man i can find in the dash community. I wish you the best of luck and yes vote if had the chance to vote.

JZA is well known on the Dash Community and I have him in the bracket of good people. He sponsored a lot meet ups in Ghana here and other parts of the world. People like his calibre are the brains behind the skyrocketing of Dash in most parts of the world and my country Ghana has benefited a lot from Dash Global. This proposal when gets funded and activities are carried according to plan, Dash will soon outweighs most of the crypto currencies in the world. We hope to see more of his type in the Dash community.
I wish you all the best

I would kind of agree with you Mastermind, but JZA's crews are touring and evangelizing all over places like Africa, Asia and South America (as well as Portugal, etc...). Those groups are just starting out, and I think you're kind of assuming they're in the same situations we're in today in the USA / Canada and Europe, but they're not! Sure, the tiny payouts that they give to people are "give aways" and are limited, however, at such an early stage in Africa and South America, it's the best way to create buzz. Cryptolib was saying he completely ran out of Dash, and he's still touring! So, supporting these kinds of efforts, in my opinion, is still very valid to on-board the economically disadvantaged parts of the world. And if we have a foot in the door first, Dash will certainly benefit from that.
Reply
1 point,6 years ago
Yes is easy when you have a set expectation of the outcome, the goal of this meetups is to raise as many communities as possible in the timeframe defined. Completely different dynamics. I do not agree is a waste of money, since it has been my experiences that continuous reinforcement of DASH information through analog channels have made it easier for talents that are not so tech-related or sophisticated. Our group has benefit greatly from an older crowd which is not nearly as tech-savvy, they dont know how to use Youtube apps, or most of their mobiles apps and it has been pretty hard for them to learn the technical aspects of crypto, on the other side they have been well developed on the financial and economic side and even as an investors they can afford of a great deal of patience to sell high and buy low. So they also have taught the not so patient crowd.
I can see this scenario and others being played on most of the communities that we are funding and once they are more developed and work in exchange with DASH community, the value will be clear.
Another reason also has to do with the internet prices and access that are not as affordable or even as prevalent in countries like Nigeria or Ghana where uploading a video is actually an expensive request and can take several days, almost like the modem dial-up days in the middle of 2017. So having agroup that could provide all this information offline is also a great advantage.
The contest idea was great, but it doesnt really apply to most of the communities, specially student communities that have 0 funds to start. It makes it hard to even participate on those contests. Thanks to continous exchange with them online we could come up with frameworks in which the funds can be secured and also be as useful as possible.
At this time we already considering 10 more sites for meetups and will be funding them once the budget kicks in, countries that do not speak english like Angola, Mozambique, Vietnam and Phillipines.
Reply
3 points,6 years ago
This will be a huge blessing to those communities. How can we get Jamaica added to this list. I lived there for a year, speak the native language, and will give anything to help see more of these wonderful people succeed where employment opportunity nearly do not exist.
Reply

Voting no on all meet-ups, huge waste of money.
Reply
1 point,6 years ago
Why? How the people who don't know anything about Dash, or any cryptocurrency can reach information? Do you really think it's enough with just a web page or just a youtube video? Are yoy saying that people who dont know how to use internet or social network, they have no chanse on community

The biggest challenge with the meetups is preventing misuse of the programs while at the same time trying not to limiting them.
I found that weekly meetups were not the best allocation of money as it basicly just pays for a group of friends to get together every week and have Dash buy their food and drinks. Nothing really wrong with that but i think it is a waste of budget funds to do it every week. This was one of the main changes i had to make to the Dash Force meetup program.
Once a month seems sufficient to get the job done, which is supposed to be about bringing in new people and getting them started with Dash, not throwing weekly parties for the same old members. Weekly parties can work to bring in new members but i think monthly meetups are a wiser use of funds. Groups can still do weekly meetups but would just do it themselves like all other meetups do. Are you still planing to do weekly meetups?

Feel free to copy the Dash Force rules as you will need something in place to prevent abuse of the system.
Do you have any rules in place? How much was spent on meetups so far? How many meetups? How many people attended? Are they listing all them on meetup.com or places like that so new people can Discover Dash and join?

If this proposal passes it should be kept as its own DAO for transparency and accountability purposes. This is not a 5 Dash a month meetup program like Dash Force but a 120 Dash proposal which needs its own DAO.

Do you have any budget documentation showing how all the money from the DASH Global proposal was spent? A full accounting of funds.
I’m looking for a breakdown of expenses like I do for Dash Force. How much was left over/rollover, How much and What was the money spent on? Meetups, monitors, portable laptop handlers, furniture and green and black screen etc etc.
Who is the treasurer?

Here is how I do it every month for Dash Force

While I was in Cancun, Mexico an old friend invited me to one of JAZ's meet ups. There I was greeted by a community of genuine people, entupenerrs all seeking to help grown one another's ideas. I was taken back by it. So much so that I attend the next week even though my friend could not. I even brought another friend as well. I am back home in the USA and I continue to receive support from JAZ's group. They are doing a great job promoting DASH, it is becoming contagious in Mexico and throughout his meet ups world wide! Keep up the great work.

I think this is a different proposal, if you want us to modify the updates we give on a different proposal you should ask that on their respective location.

We have given regular updates on the forum of the past proposals and haven't really got any feedback on those, so I like to assume it has been done to most of the satisfaction from the network.
https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/dash-global-news-site.16253/
I dont know mixing proposals is a good idea, you have done this previously with an older proposal asking for funds reports from a proposal given several months ago. Focusing on the proposal at hand should be the goal here.

We already said we will be given regular updates on the meetups as well as any funds that hasn't been exhausted. Thank you for providing a format example, we will take it into account. Thanks.

Dash Global, is a very interesting proposal, since all the information of the coin arrives in English and many of the people do not manage to understand, with Dash in Spanish and dash Global we are reaching that large number of interested parties that could not find a way to get involved , not only will be driving in cancun as it started, but are already in several countries, where the work could already be demonstrated. if they want growth we must bet on those groups that we believe are smaller but want to make the most of the information we give, as mentioned by onezzety (friend-friend). I would give a YES.

This is just a great idea. If it wasn't because of a meetup, who knows how long would have taken me to get involved in cryptos. The meetup I attend to is sponsored by Dash and therefore it is the project I am the most familiar with. Today, I am able to explain to other people what a DAO is and how it works, what makes Dash different from other cryptos and why it is a good investment. Dash/Btc is my point of reference when preaching cryptos to the unblessed. All thanks to a Dash funded meetup.

Dash Global is a super interesting project, I have followed for a long time and I think it is very important the value and the purpose that this community has to make Dash known to everyone.
Reply
5 points,6 years ago
It is important to note that Dash seeks to be available to everyone, does not restrict its use only to a sector of the population or marginalized by its income. Dash, besides a method of payment, can be used as a form of savings and investment, but these people will not know if they are not told about it. I agree with the suggestion of the speaker, but there is no better than an entertaining talk can teach you from person to person this wonderful world. And that's where this proposal takes relevance, if people who do not believe or know in this world, find that there is a community behind all this and that together we make a force, people begin to look at Dash with other eyes and use it. DashGlobal-Meetups is an excellent proposal. After all, the strength of Dash is precisely community and DashGlobal-Meetups knows it, and is looking for the community to continue growing every time.

Participation: 15 people.

We are thankful to DASH Global.

We think that the organizer of the meetup should have an incentive to do this work, and this should be included in the budget for every meetup, as it means the organizers have to do a job inviting to the meetup, organizing the logistics, printing POP material, making the presentation, help position DASH and DASH Global as brands, and then the after-sell contact with the participants, as well as posting all the results.

It takes work and leadership, so my recomendation is that this is rewarded properly so the new leaders can continue doing the job.

So far, in Venezuela, with the help of Dash Global there has been 3 meetups in Caracas and 2 in San Antonio de Los Altos.

There are also other leaders who want to start: DASH Ciudad Bolívar, DASH Valle de la Pascua, DASH Guanare and DASH La Guaira, at least.

Good luck, DASH Global :-)

Having a global vision from DASH is necessary, we can not just only use digital communication ways, personal meetings is the ideal way to enter into the population and keep the community growing locally but in many places around the world, remember that the best marketing is from mouth to mouth. Il faut qu'on grandise la communauté DASH autour du monde. It would be great if each one of the active members participate on founding a little local DASH crew. and be supported with this project is the best way. I hope the masternodes will take the right decision and vote yes. Let's DASH!

JZA is a well known member of the Dash community and I applaud this grass roots initiative. Meetups are an excellent way to spread the word of Dash. I agree that the money needs to be accounted for, but 120 Dash is not a big spend in the grand scheme of things. I hope to see frequent updates from the meetups themselves, and also reports on how the budget is being spent. Handled properly a few meetups could spawn additional groups in other cities and we could end up with hundreds of meetups in a short time. This has to be one of the best ways to promote Dash, especially into the developing world. To me this is worth a 120 Dash gamble. Voting YES.
Reply
0 points,6 years ago
Thanks for your support 120 DASH might sound like a lot to some people, but I have seen proposal spending 3 and 4 times that just narrowing their market on a particular city or region. The mision of this proposal is to fund what is one of the core qualities of DASH, its community. If we want to recruit developers (that might not be involved with crypto), or just general talent, we need this local groups to help the transition. As leader of these groups there has been multiple of very important talent 'jump out' of the cryptocurrency ecosystem due to issues that might have been solved or explained if there was a local group of people **in the know**. This can make all the difference in the world for some people.

OK, I see you gave a breakdown, thank you. It gives us at least an idea of how the funds are spent. I mean, I guess it's hard to say exactly where the funds will be spent because I do see you sending stuff as it comes along. As long as you keep track and report it later, that'd be great :)

Dash Global have paid for my meetup in Nigeria and JZA has been a source of encouragement and support to my team in Nigeria. We have presently over 6 programmers in our club and one writer. If not for the support from JZA and Dash global we won't have been able to achieve all we have achieved within a short period. Presently we are meeting in Kaduna, Nigeria, tomorrow with graphic designers, programmers and content developers for our Dash Nigeria dynamic website which will have chat forum and a meetup event launcher for anyone in Nigeria who wants to have his or her own meetup. We are also planning on organizing Dash Campus meetup too which will carry a basket ball competition between our Dash Squad Basket ball team and other University Basket Ball team; the winner will be paid in Dash. Anyone that want to contest will register with dash too and we will have one hour discussion about dash before the game. Our site will also be selling Airtime that can be bought with dash and the sales will be as instant as possible. If not for Dash global's support and JZA we won't have gone this far. I will plead with all MN holders to vote YES for this proposal. Dash Global is doing a good job in West Africa and beyond. DG have been able to stand as a middle man between we and the DAO. I will still say we we should vote YES.

We want to ignite business with people that can benefit the most with Digital cash. Having businesses unlocking domestic and international commerce with digital cash can bring paradigm change to the global economy and DASH could be the main disruptor.

@jza is a hard working gentle on slack who has helped a lot of young people across the globe to run their own meet ups and of course I have held a lot of meet ups under meet ups through his support. His good works has been recognized on the Dash Community. This please vote for this proposal to win. This proposal will create a fertile ground for Dash to thrive in all the corners of the Globe.
Please vote for it

Hey jza, nice to meet you in London, really love the work that you're doing and I like this proposal a lot. However, like Mastermind, I will need to see a breakdown of how the funds will be used before committing my votes to the project.

@jza is well known on the Dash Nation Slack and on the forums. I have been in contact with him and discussing some ideas. Dash Global would be a hub so that he can have a startup framework for some of these early communities. What we are finding, is that the number of global meet-ups is growing rapidly. As I understand, @jza is trying to create a framework to sustain that growth in future. @mastermined I agree that the money needs to be accounted-for.

I am glad people are taking advantage of the vision of DASH Global and I think it will soon be something that can produce incremental value to the DASH community.

Dash Force has spent on average under 5 Dash a month to support global meetups the last 2 months. If you include administration it is still well under 10 Dash a month.
Where is all the 120 Dash a month going to go?
Please break down your expenses.

Yes but we are looking to make it global, because I speak spanish it will be easy for me to make the "DASH Global Meetups" a hit in latin America, and we have a team from Korea, Brazil, Italy and France, Dash Force was very limited to english speaking people.

Not get confused, JZA is the spokesperson of or community, we are big group of DASHers making a great job for the DASH community.

Instead of having a bunch of random meet-ups, id much rather see a professional spokesperson/ group hold a few Meetups with large numbers attending. It's definitely more effective and efficient.

Disagree-down voting. We need positive people making real results. This is great stuff-the more the better!

No, that never works. The "guru" only talks and is never sure if someone understand anything, but the meeting is an opportunity to have a talk, share information and experience, is no teacher - student way, is a friend to friend (p2p) way, and is the best way to share information, experiences and benefits of Dash.

Ins this two years I try to given conferences with zero results, now with the Dash sponsorship we are growing exponentially every day, we want the funds to replicate the formula. The old way you propose, no work anymore, and never will.
