Proposal description
Introduction
Dash Nexus launched its MVP on schedule in December 2018, despite being underfunded by over $70,000. The project has since remained unfunded, halting further development of the platform. A detailed recap of our past proposals is available in the Dash Watch Report.
Although we haven't received any funding since launch, our team remained engaged with the project and provided a variety of services for the last 3 months:
"Dash Watch submitted three concepts and two live proposals using the Dash Nexus platform. The submission process has been simplified and requires no technical knowledge, opening up the Dash proposal system to a wider business community. Dash Nexus has also been working with Dash Watch to integrate proposal reports directly into the Nexus platform when development funding becomes available" - Dash Watch
Like Dash itself, Dash Nexus is built to evolve and provide unique value propositions not found in other cryptocurrencies projects. With this funding, we can continue to build and deliver functionality that will add value to the ecosystem for years to come.
- Ongoing support. Our team members volunteered their time to provide assistance to proposal owners and MNOs using the platform, quickly replying to questions asked on Discord and making ourselves available for calls to guide proposal owners through the submission process.
- Feedback collection and integration. We developed a feedback tool to offer Nexus users a way to share their ideas with our development team and the community. The feedback has been great, and while we wish we could integrate all of it, we were only able to address some of the suggestions, without receiving additional funds to cover development costs.
- Operating costs. We contributed personal capital to cover the hosting and software costs and to engage development resources to ensure a smooth transition during the network's upgrade to v0.13 in January.
- Community development effort. We recently signed on several developers from the Dash community who have volunteered their time to help advance the platform. This is the first step in our effort to transition Nexus into an open-source, community driven project.
- Ongoing maintenance to ensure Nexus is compatible with future network updates. Without this critical maintenance work, we cannot guarantee that the platform will function properly when the network transitions to new releases, such as v0.14 and v1.0 later this year.
- Continued support and community engagement. Our team will be available to answer questions and offer help to community members using the platform, quickly replying to all incoming requests that come in across multiple communications channels including Discord, our Feedback tool, Dash Central, and emails. While our team members volunteered their time and provided this service free of charge for the last few months, we may not be able to continue to do so reliably going forward without providing compensation.
- Coordinating community development efforts. A small team of Nexus and STRV developers will work to outline product goals, set development objectives, review contributions, perform testing, and implement pull requests. Without having this structure, it will not be feasible to have a collaborative community development effort.
- Integrating community feedback. By combining the efforts of a small Nexus development team and the work produced by community developers, we will be able to act on the feedback we received from the community over the last few months and make meaningful changes to the platform that will improve the overall experience.
- Operating costs. Most importantly, this funding will cover the hosting and software fees to allow Dash Nexus to remain online. We have drawn down the reserves that we had at the end of January and have been funding the operation of the site out of pocket since then. Unfortunately, we are no longer in a position where we can afford to contribute personal funds to keep the platform online.
- The Dash Nexus team is personally invested in the success of Dash and has a track record of delivering on budget and on schedule, even with the significant price depreciation in 2018.
- Dash Nexus is critical governance infrastructure and the MVP has already improved aspects of the governance process, such as providing a clear and reliable leaderboard, as well as greatly simplifying the proposal creation and submission process.
- Continued maintenance and development on the already delivered MVP platform will perfectly position Dash to shine as the leader in decentralized governance when the market begins to recover.
- The proposal team has shown commitment to the project by continuing to provide support for the platform, even without treasury funding, as well as covering hosting and software costs out of pocket.
Like Dash itself, Dash Nexus is built to evolve and provide unique value propositions not found in other cryptocurrencies projects. With this funding, we can continue to build and deliver functionality that will add value to the ecosystem for years to come.

Dash Nexus is now over the minimum quorum threshold, but at its current rank - the proposal will not be funded.
If Dash Nexus does not receive funding in the current cycle, we will no longer be in a position to cover maintenance costs and keep the site online using personal funds, as we have done for the last 3 months.
We appreciate the tight nature of the recent budget cycles and competition for funds, but believe Dash Nexus is critical network infrastructure and hope that MNOs see enough value in it to keep the project alive.
There are still a couple hours left! Please show your support and vote!

What i would like to see at some point though is the budget allocation which is displayed in the Dashboard also to be displayed in the Leaderboard (I dont want to open a seperate tab when i'm checking the Leaderboard to get that info)
The first one is that the leaderboard chart needs to be more accurate. What I mean by that is on the old vote tracker chart you could actually see when a whale voted with say 50 masternodes in one go. You can not tell that with your new leaderboard.
The second thing is when editing a proposal and you come to the end "4. Set up your project timeline" it only gives the option to cancel if you do not want to fill out that part (the continue button is blocked out). So after I make updates/edit the proposal it is not clear that it will be saved. It does save it when you click cancel but that should be changed to add a "finish" button option as I was worried it would not save changes and "cancel" it.
If I find more stuff when I start really using the site I will report it through the feedback tool. So far I have not really been using nexus except to check the leaderboard and edit our proposal.
