General
Good news, people, last month we had a new hire, a new frontend dev joined our team, and
we started the Dash Website project coding with designs by Ermakow. It all started pretty well,
we already created the base application and worked through landing page, aka the home page,
and it’s already live as a demo.
The new website will be built on Next.js framework, which should give a fast development flow, and
it is going to include all the content, pages, and links from the current version to ensure smooth and
transparent migration.
The actual content could be revised at any moment, and we’ll be fine continously working on the content,
together with Ermakow, Joel and a community to bring cover the most great parts about Dash on the pages.
The blog section will be reworked to work through Dash Platform, meaning the blog posts will be stored
in evo chain, and showed to the users straight from Evo, but it might require new features in protocol
from the Platform Team (after v3.0).
It will include:
Plan
Right now, we just started the project, and there’s some time needed to find out with what speed we
can keep this going, but personally I’m pretty positive on it, it could be done much quicker. There are
more than 20 pages to redo, and all the components and blocks should be broken down into code,
keeping the maximum code reusability, so new changes is very easy to add.
My personal feeling is about 6 months, but we will see a more honest scope in the next month. The
content on the website (either in Figma and Demo) I believe is not final, and will be continuously
modified by the needs of the community (in cooperation with Ermakow and Joel), there’s still a
lot of stuff that we would like to include.
What we focused right now, is to just to put it in work at least in current phase, we’ll have enough
time tuning and fining it out.
Q / A
Question: How this proposal differ from Ermakow’s proposal?
Answer: This proposal cover the development of the website, while Ermakow’s proposal is aiming at the
Figma designs, that needs to be coded.
Question: How much time will it take for the whole website to be redone?
Answer: I would say ~6 months, this is my personal feeling, but new dev showing himself productive and
it gives a hope that it can happen quicker. I think, we should see a dynamic on the next month
(next proposal).
Question: What features will it include?
Answer: The new website designs can be seen here, but basically it will include everything what we have now,
and a
Question: Why is it even needed?
Answer: Current website became very complex to operate, it is hard to make changes and deploy them. The
new architecture and a new designs from Ermakow should give a fresh breath for the Dash Website. It will be
fast, responsive, SEO-optimized, easily changed and will introduce the new blog section fully driven by the
Evolution, which makes it even greater.
Question: What will be done for this month’s funds?
Answer: We will make and roll out a demo instance a homepage, downloads, and some of the other Get
Started pages. There are 6 pages in “Get Started” sections, hoping to get all of them done.
Budget
100 DASH (Frontend)
20 DASH (Reserve)
