Proposal description
Update 1: We've received our first order!
Update 2: Chocolate Dash Coins now available for 25 cents including shipping. Legacy Logo. While Supplies Last.
Update 3: We've made a few pricing changes. All items are now priced exactly at cost without any markup whatsoever. Shipping is now weight based and not included in the price. Instead of "free shipping" we now include a chocolate dash coin free with any purchase. Enjoy and keep the excellent feedback coming.
Site is in beta, v 0.0.1 so go easy on us :) Still, it functions 100% and allows the sale of hundreds of items in Dash with free shipping.
This is not a request for money from Treasury. Only a request to reimburse the submission fee to make the announcement.
Last weekend I spent $100 and two days building DashFair.com . It offers hundreds of the most basic household items, all for sale in Dash only, and all with free two day shipping. Pens, pencils, SD cards, snacks, band aids, notebooks, razors, you get the idea.
My hope is that lots of proposals try lots of things to help people earn and spend dash. This is one model that can be rapidly deployed anywhere. Dashfair can only service the USA because shipping "everyday items" internationally just doesn't make sense, the shipping would be too expensive and delivery would take too long.

Dashfair.com essentially utilizes the instacart model. For those unfamiliar, instacart allows someone to just go shopping for you and bring your items to your door. Instacart doesn't stock any product, but they'll send a driver to your favorite grocery store, etc. and bring your item to your door.
As you may or may not know, Feedbands ships about a thousand or two vinyl records each month out of our main distribution center. This distribution center happens to be right next to a CVS, so any time we receive an order on Dashfair, a member from our staff will go to CVS, pick up the item, and mail it out same day. Unfortunately for now that means the prices are high, but it's an experiment and a model that we hope others build upon.
All orders come with free two day shipping, and all orders ship within one business day.
Why are we doing this? Don't we have enough on our plate?
I've talked about my history a little bit in the forums and on Discord. In 2007 I founded a digital currency and closed loop digital economy that quickly grew to doing hundreds of thousands of transactions per day. It was called "Entrecard" and from the moment we launched it, everyone had a simple and easy way to earn our currency (visiting other blogs and selling ads on their own blogs) and everyone had things to spend the currency on (ads for their blog). We grew it to include a shop where people could buy anything they wanted with entrecard credits and people could also sell whatever they wanted. We were used by over 40,000 bloggers at our peak before things tragically collapsed due to a lack of funding. But yes, we were doing hundreds of thousands of transactions per day. Although Entrecard failed, it's failure was due to its success. I've spent the last decade waiting for another chance to take all the lessons I've learned to help make a digital currency really work.
Entrecard had something Dash needs: A simple and easy way for lots and lots of people to *earn* small amounts of the currency. And ways for everyone to *spend* their currency that tapped into their real needs.
Thought experiment #1: When is the last time you bought some cash to spend? You probably never have, because in an economy, cash is not something people buy, it is something people earn.
Thought experiment #2: If someone gets some dash from a giveaway or an airdrop, how do they become regular, long term users of Dash? Realistically, they probably don't because they don't have any more ways to earn it and they don't have super easy ways to spend it on the things they need. They'll likely cash it out and that's that.
Thought experiment #3: How many treasury proposals are directly resulting in either A.) more ways for people to become regular earners of dash or B.) more ways for people to spend the dash they earn? There is a lot of wonderful work being done by a lot of wonderful people here, and I want to sincerely applaud everyone's efforts. And yet, I have a nagging feeling that if, month over month, the number of transactions that Dash is doing is not going up, than the treasury is not doing it's job. And beyond that, if Dash is to succeed, it must be used for things. Bitcoin is a store of value. Perhaps it will never be used for transactions. From my perspective, we really need to focus on getting Dash in people's hands who then actually use it for things.
Thought experiment #4: What is one reason someone might shop on Dashfair when there are plenty of other places to shop? Because we're the only place on earth where you can buy Chocolate Dash Coins with the Legacy Logo. 25 cents each including shipping. Go ahead and try to buy them with fiat anywhere, see how far you get :)
At entrecard, we created things people could spend their credits on that they all needed. And that's why we are launching Dashfair with hundreds of basic items like toothbrushes and toilet paper and snack bars and batteries and SD cards. These are the most basic things everyone needs. We're going to ship these items fast, because we're already in the office shipping things five days a week and all these items are always in stock right next door to us.
We need your help and feedback!
PS: Don't forget to pick up some Chocolate Dash Coins with the Legacy Logo while supplies last, 25 cents each including shipping. When we reorder, it will be with the new logo.

Discussion: Should we fund this proposal?

Rather, there should be a discussion about how effective your main advertising campaign is in leading to merchant or user adoption? At 1234 dash, it is 20% of the treasury budget in a tight month.
1. In english speaking countries around the world, we are targeting hundreds of searches similar to "how to accept bitcoin" and "how to accept cryptocurrency"
2. These merchants land on a page tailored specifically to them which offers them integration options and information, offers a helpdesk, and touts dash's benefits.
We did get contacted by someone in the restaurant industry who has a massive rolodex and connections to thousands of restaurants who claims he can bring us "thousands of restaurants." I reached out for help from the community as to how best direct this resource but didn't get any direction, so I would love some help figuring out how best to utilize someone that our campaign found who is willing to "sign up thousands of restaurants"
Engagement is highest through this channel, and already we have received great feedback, fixed bugs, adjusted features, changed our pricing structure. It has been indispensable to polish the product. Even if we lose the 5 dash, it was worth the $2200 for the rapidity and quality of the feedback.
We know it is a bit extreme to make an announcement this way.
We also believe it is critically important to the success of Dash that more proposals begin to directly result in an increased transaction volume, and that was also part of the inspiration behind electing this channel. We just want to do our part to help push the sentiment in that direction.
please use the forums, get a dash force news coverage, use discord. I think you can get enough visibility there.
Side note: The GoCoin checkout should show a Dash icon... it currently shows other cryptos.
so well I decided to try your site buy some stuff and its saying my tx has not come through even though I already have 2 confirmations the order is about to expire, check your order history b27fd2ae-5e70-4b8b-ab19-c0783518280a I know you are alpha / beta buy this seems BROKEN~!? or a SCAM? i'll wait to see if I get my products....my order says expired even though payment has now 3 confirmations... :(
Here is the message they displayed:
MERCHANT REVIEW
This invoice was paid late. Accepting it now will result in the following gain/loss:
USD
$0.00
DASH
Ð0.00000000
Note: This calculation takes into account your current split settings and exchange rates. Rejecting this payment will refund the customer in full. This may require that you provide a refund address.
So, we had to manually approve the order by logging into GoCoin and accepting whatever gains/losses occur due to the transaction happening outside the window, which of course was perfectly OK with us.
You should receive your order in about two days :)
Also, Dashop is going to be a wonderful shop and we too are excited/anxious for it! Dashfair is not intended to compete with it in any way. In fact, we intend it to be a "flea market" style shop where anyone can sell any old thing they have lying around. In order to not run afoul of money transmitter laws, we need to provide transaction based services to ensure the terms of the agreement/transaction are met, so we're not ready to open to everyone yet. Dashop, by contrast, is focusing on large, established merchants, and specifically excluding small individual random sellers which Dashfair intends to cater to. So we're working on two different ends of the market.
but maybe it would be good to announce this just in reddit, twitter, facebook, DASH forum etc for free than here for 5 DASH
1. Hey, another cool way for Dash people to buy real stuff.
2. I compared a number of the prices, and when you account for the free 2 day shipping, stuff is competitively priced.
3. At the moment, burning 5 Dash to make a proposal is the best way we have to insure that the maximum number of Masternodes see a message. There is no MailChimp list with all the Masternodes' email addresses. Thus, I am happy to reimburse Feedband's 5 Dash. I would be very interested in a more direct and efficient way to communicate with all, or at least the majority of Masternodes though.

If I'm not mistaken, this is maybe the only place in the US you can buy a Toothbrush and pay in Dash.
Also, the interesting part about easily earning dash is not improved by this in any way. So not sure why you focused on that so much.

I would much rather see the 5 Dash sent to one of the charities accepting Dash. Plenty of other areas for announcements and that is what we pay Dashforce to help with.
Instead, we view our target market as people who may earn small amounts of Dash in the future and need a place to spend it.
