Proposal description

This is a cross-post from Dash Forum

This proposal a continuation of the previous infrastructure budget from July, which can be found here: https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/proposal-infrastructure-basic-needs.9207/

For our ongoing infrastructure needs, we feel that we can continue to operate using cloud-based infrastructure, which has lower upfront costs, more flexibility to add or remove capacity, and yet is still hosted in a professionally managed datacenter. It would also ensure that these assets are under the control of the project, as opposed to individuals who were previously donating capacity.

Here are the details on the services this ongoing funding provides for the month of August. Note that we are adding $10 / month for a VPS needed for several integrations now underway.

Cloud infrastructure costs:
$260 per month for AWS and Google services and administration
Roles:
- Route53 DNS zone management
- EC2 web server instances
- S3 for web server instances
- Backups and auditing
- Gmail for domains
- VPS for integrations support

Hosted Compile Server:
$150 per month for co-location and replacement parts for our Bamboo compile server

Requested funding is as follows for the August 5th budget cycle:
Total: 57.85 Dash

Note: Should any funding remain after the project is complete, we will apply those funds toward future infrastructure funding needs

To be clear, this is in addition to the new hardware? So there are functions that run on the private, dedicated hardware, and there are additional functions in this cloud environment? Mind clarifying? Thanks.

Not sure I completely understand, but isn't this affecting the descentralization of the network? What if amazon decides it doesnt like dash and pulls the plug on all services provided? like DNS zone mgmt

The dash network is not running on these servers, This is run by miners and master-nodes for the most part.

This merely a way for developers to work together properly, a groupwork space. Sort of an advanced groupchat, facebook, cloudstorage type of deal.
