Proposal description

The continuation of regular DASH: Detailed Wednesday shows, plus the addition of a new Friday show called "DASH: Detailed Spotlight." "Spotlight" is a weekly show featuring exclusive interviews with key players in the Dash space -- Core team members, Dash contractors, business owners, investors, etc. The show's purpose is to attract new investors while further bolstering the confidence of current ones by showcasing the human talent behind DASH.

More details in this short video clip. (Cannot embed here. Apologies!)

Key points:

- Bump up to 2 weekly shows, Wednesdays and Fridays at 12 noon EST
- 3 month proposal
- Price is 215 DASH (123 for DD + 92 for DD Spotlight)

Closing:

We've been happy working for the DASH network and we now seek to increase the level of service we provide. We're in the process of building an in-home film studio that should considerably increase the quality level of DASH: Detailed videos.

Please ask any questions you may have and consider voting YES!

The Dash community would be smart to get a two year commitment from ABJ. Just like every sports team tries to lock up their star athlete to a long-term deal. ABJ is the face of Dash! A two year deal with a formula to adjust the payout of Dash based on price fluctuation and ABJ signs a two year non-compete clause. Win-Win!

Amazing content, and I think that this is well worth it. Most of the pump is in favor of her (and her team) alone.

ABJ I love you and I love your videos. However I have a need to ask, how do you justify 20k USD per month? I believe this is toooo much. Can you write down specifically, or scan the receipts and everything that goes into 20k? A detailed report for everyone to see why 20k is being spent and how they are being spent? I believe this would be a more transparent approach towards the use of these funds.

At today's price in USD ($67.50), this is $14,600 per month. Note that this pays not one, but two people. So, straight up, that's only $7,300 per month per person, or $87,600 per year. OK, that's a nice salary, but not extravagant.

But in real life, they are self employed, they have to pay both sides of social security, not just half like employed folks. Furthermore, they get zero benefits, no health insurance, no paid vacation, no sick time, no retirement plan, no matching contributions, in fact, no nothing.

When you account for the absence of benefits, 87 grand a year compares to more like 50 grand a year as an employee. 50K a year is not chickenfeed, but it is nothing special at all.

Furthermore, you will note that they are building a video studio to up the production value and have also invested in better cameras and computers. So, if you take that out of their budget, now you're talking about an equivalent annual salary of 40 grand or less.

They are also taking on the risk of seeing their pay get cut by 1/3 or more if the value of Dash takes a big hit, like it just did. So if it was me, I would add a little extra to account for that risk of seeing your pay cut by 30%, or 50%.

Sure, the value of Dash could also shoot to the moon and then maybe they are taking home 30 grand a month. In that scenario, would it not be accurate to say that their efforts at promoting the Dash ecosystem are working, and in no small part due to their efforts, the Dash ecosystem just gained 250 MILLION dollars if Dash went up 50%.

Then they deserve the raise even more wouldn't you say???

So anyway, the numbers aren't as high as they look, because they are self employed, and they are worth every penny.

I think they could ask for double the money and most masternode owners wouldn't give it a second thought.

Honestly , at the current price , if the dash network has to pay even half a mill per year to our lovely ABJ .... I am totally cool with that .

Why is ABJ charge so much for these videos?
Reply

This is way to pricey, I will be voting no until the price is adjusted.. I know there is no risk of getting a 'unfunded' because of this BUT it sends a signal that price needs adjusted

Voting Yes and encourage Amanda to be ambitious with her content creation. Perhaps create a team with animators other presenters, make a website, get on TV, think outside the box and all that.

Why does ABJ charge so much? And why are all these proposals denominated in Dash and not USD?
Reply
1 point,7 years ago
Because our budget is a fixed Number of Dash. And there is no easy way to adjust for the USD price without risking going over the budget.

That's a very vague response. 20k per month to make videos is too much.

I do own a masternode. However, I don't know Amanda personally, but she has evolved into a spokesperson for Dash. I don't see anywhere else in the crypto space a spokesperson that brings the flare, playfulness, passion and ability to communicate complicated things the way Amanda does. When she is interviewing core team members she often stops them and seeks clarification, understanding her audience, which is not an easily trainable talent. Amanda is also attractive which from a marketing standpoint has one of the biggest impacts on audiences and future investors/customers.

Most companies outside of crypto that are nearly one billion dollar companies have a very well known brand and a face that goes along with it. I promise you they are making well above $2,000 a showing. Two episodes a week at $2,000 is $200,000 a year, which is a drop in the bucket compared to some of the salaries many spokesperson receive from a billion dollar company.

Given the success, knowledge and presence Amanda brings to the table I'm sure she is approached with many other opportunities in the crypto space. The last thing I would want to happen is for Amanda to feel unappreciated at Dash, more valued elsewhere and in the process take her exceptional talent with her ;)

I really appreciate your comment. Its contents are thoughtful.

And might I add: this payout goes to more than me. Firstly, it pays a whole other person -- Pete -- to edit, compile, and upload all the videos. He might even work more hours than I do. And secondly, it buys all our equipment: camera, lighting, sound, computer, and set rental (yes, we've begun renting a set to get better internet).

So I'm just one monetary recipient of the DASH: Detailed funding package.

Why do you keep saying $20K / month? Today is 4/21 and the price is $71.42. 215 X 71.42 = $15,355. Remember this is a proposal for TWO people and includes PRODUCTION COST. Working for Dash provides NO BENEFITS and they run the risk that the price of Dash DROPS.

The Dash community would be smart to get a two year commitment from ABJ. Just like every sports team tries to lock up their star athlete to a long-term deal. ABJ is the face of Dash! i'm totally new here, i found out about dash (re-looked) because of her video. i'm super interested in learning more. i make courses over on skillshare. i'd love to learn and vlog/make videos about dash - as a new user, more detail about a masternode would be good because all i see is $77k USD and that looks scary as an investment! :) - glad to be here.

$50k+ for 24 shows? $2k per episode? You think this is 'Friends'? Ya'll crazy.

Amanda's proposal was submitted in February before the price spike, so I have no problem with this. When her show gets renewed for another 3 months, I'm sure she'll adjust the amount of DASH requested to reflect current prices.

amanda is lovely. The increase in the price of dash makes it look expensive, but really... we need her. She's one of the team. I will always vote yes.

I happily support her. Unless you've been under a rock since she's come onboard, there's no missing her promotional and awareness contribution to the success Dash is now seeing. History is littered with great technologies that die while mediocre technologies dominate. The difference is effective communication - she's knocking the lights out there standard-bearing for Dash's very deserving technology.

Extremely happy with Amanda, and this can't be downvoted in any way
But, next month, can we get a proper price update? ;)
Reply

Yes, of course we should! She's not just producing great videos (though she and Pete are doing that), but she's persuasively building the buzz. That's not so easily done. I open the door to people with her videos. I've showed her videos (especially that most excellent Dash School 6-part series) to people barely familiar with crypto's, and the first thing they say is, 'Wow, Dash is the most promising!' Delivery matters and will pay dividends.

Would love to see 2 shows / week, u got my vote!

Im not saying it is not worth but I think it's a bit pricey 5k a month, I mean give me 1.5k a month and I will promote Dash at shopping malls and street 4-6 hours a day 5 times a week, no problem xP but Amanda you are doing a good job keep it up just wish more of these would get proposed and accepted some company-like setups like maybe a small office to start answering calls create user guides manage pr teams and create marketing strategy's.
