Proposal description

This proposal is to suggest issuing of DASH debit card by integration of DASH to SpectroCoin.com wallet. The card will be both physical and virtual and will let DASH users to spend their holdings everywhere where MasterCard or Visa is accepted. We are managing the wallet since 2013 and we have been issuing debit cards for bitcoin users for more than a year. On top of this the integration would mean that DASH users will be able to exchange DASH to fiat, buy DASH, pay with DASH at our payment processor, so merchants could receive fiat as well as use Drupal, Magento, opencart, PrestaShop, WHMCS plug-ins.

The funds will spent to hire an additional developer, so our core team developer with experience with cryptocurruncy protocols could focus on DASH integration.

If you go to the link he provided : www.e-coin.io , it now redirects to wirexapp.com . but i don't see anything mentioned about DASH integration .

Is there any progress regarding this funded project? Is anyone doing a followup ?

My www.e-coin.io BTC mastercard is great, a dash mastercard would be even better as i have more dash than BTC.. lol But please try and make the card look good.. A nice black and gold card or something really different.. something to get noticed !!

That may just be enough for me to change my mind...more info up front makes for easier decisions.

My vote for yes still stands, i dont really see a reason to change it at this moment.

More information about this proposal can be found here :

https://dashtalk.org/threads/proposal-dash-debit-card.8390/

"In addition to debit card which would be accepted everywhere where MasterCard or Visa is accepted, the project would also lead to integration of Dash to our exchange (clients will be able to exchange Dash to fiat, even buy it with
debit or credit card) as well as integrate it to our payment processor, so merchant will be able to accept Dash and
receive fiat as well as benefit from plug-ins for Drupal, opencart, PrestaShop WHCMS and other."

"We are incorporated in UK and Lithuania, we have a team of 10 people of whom 6 are developers, we are mainly working with clients in Europe, we have more than 30,000 clients at this day. Comparing to over companies, we are not only a card company, we are also a wallet, exchange and a payment provider. Our costs are lowest in the markter, we only charge 0.5EUR per virtual card and 8EUR for physical."

"We are also during a research, we are working with SWIFT institute regarding usage of blockchain for securities transactions and etc. "

They are a card provider that have have their own bitcoin wallet (web, mobile) and merchant tools as well
and even coindesk did several articles about them :

http://www.coindesk.com/spectrocoin-takes-bitpay-europe-bitcoin-processing-solution/
http://www.coindesk.com/spectrocoin-launches-bitcoin-cash-service-25-countries/
http://www.coindesk.com/press-releases/spectrocoin-aims-to-become-a-leading-uk-bitcoin-wallet/

I'm sorry to hear that this budget proposal may clash with other debit card solutions that are being researched by the dev team at the moment but this one-time budget proposal adds real value to Dash's ecosystem in my opinion and frankly they did everything by the book (they gave plenty of time to properly discuss it and made announcements in the appriopriate channels)

https://shakepay.co/ is enabling DASH in their card model... Did we have to pay them up front?....I plan to reverse my votes unless there is new information because, I agree, that just wanting something isn't enough reason to finance every idea and it appears that there are viable alternatives to this proposal with no up front cost to us.

This proposal is requesting $6,500, over half of the excess budget for May, but contains very little information. SpectroCoin's website also contains little information on the company size. So, I have many questions I would like to see answered:
1) How many Bitcoin debit card users does SpectroCoin have?
2) Would SpectroCoin actively promote Dash alongside Bitcoin? If so, how? (e.g., on the website home page, email campaign to existing customers, etc)
3) What countries would be supported (many won't issue to the U.S. because of regulations)? What currencies? USD/EUR/GBP just like the bitcoin card?
4) How long of a commitment will SpectroCoin make?
5) What are your expansion plans to new currencies?
6) Will InstantX be supported for sending or receiving Dash? If it doesn't do anything to advance the use of our key differentiator in the market, I'm much less keen on this proposal.
7) Will you be operating masternodes with deposited funds? If so, will you be sharing the masternode rewards in the form of "interest" on deposits, or keeping it for yourself as an additional source of profits? Again, I would be more keen on this proposal if it included some "advantage" over users simply using bitcoin and advanced our agenda in some way using our technology differentiation.
8) What is your expected project timeline... when should we expect to see a product hit the market?

One additional thing for the community to be aware of is that we are working with other wallet / debit card providers - including ones that plan to implement masternode rewards on deposits, support more currencies, and will issue cards for free to end-users. And we aren't paying them for product development. I am willing to fund private enterprises like SpectroCoin, but they need to bring something to the table of value beyond the projects already in development with their competitors. So far, this five sentence proposal provides no compelling information for why it is worthwhile funding, and I'm surprised to see it receiving robust levels of support.

In short... more details please, and I'd very much like to see commitments made to our differentiated tech!

Hi,
Sorry for a late response. I will provide my answers here:
1) We have close to 5,000 active bitcoin debit card users.
2) We will promote it in all means including emails, our website, press releases. In addition, I am a PhD researcher of Cryptocurrencies at KU Leuven and would promote DASH through my research as well.
3) Countries to be supported (may vary): Aland Islands Albania American Samoa Andorra Anguilla Antarctica Antigua and Barbuda Argentina Argentina Armenia Aruba Australia Austria Bahamas Bahrain Barbados Belgium Belize Benin Bermuda Bhutan Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba Bosnia and Herzegovina Botswana Bouvet Island Brazil British Indian Ocean Territory Brunei Darussalam Bulgaria Canada Cape Verde Cayman Islands Chile China Christmas Island Cocos (Keeling) Islands Cook Islands Costa Rica Croatia CURACAO Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Dominica Dominican Republic El Salvador Estonia Falkland Islands (Malvinas) Faroe Islands Fiji Finland France French Guiana French Polynesia French Southern Territories Gabon Georgia Germany Ghana Gibraltar Greece Greenland Grenada Guadeloupe Guam Guatemala Guernsey Guyana Heard Island and McDonald Islands Holy See (Vatican City State) Hong Kong Hungary Iceland Indonesia Ireland Isle of Man Israel Italy Jamaica Japan Jersey Jordan Kazakhstan Kiribati Korea (South) Kosovo Kuwait Latvia Lesotho Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Macedonia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Malaysia Maldives Malta Marshall Islands Martinique Mauritius Mayotte Mexico Micronesia, Federated States of Moldova, Republic of Monaco Mongolia Montenegro Montserrat Morocco Namibia Nauru Nepal Netherlands New Caledonia New Zealand Nicaragua Norfolk Island Northern Mariana Islands Norway Oman Palau Panama Papua New Guinea Paraguay Peru Philippines Pitcairn Poland Portugal Puerto Rico Qatar Reunion Romania Russian Federation Saint Barthelemy Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha Saint Kitts and Nevis Saint Lucia Saint Martin (French part) Saint Pierre and Miquelon Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Samoa San Marino Sao Tome and Principe Saudi Arabia Serbia Seychelles Singapore Sint Maarten (Dutch part) Slovakia Slovenia Solomon Islands South Africa South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands Spain Suriname Svalbard and Jan Mayen Sweden Switzerland Taiwan, Province of China Thailand Tokelau Tonga Trinidad and Tobago Tunisia Turkey Turks and Caicos Islands Tuvalu Ukraine United Arab Emirates United Kingdom Uruguay Vanuatu Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, U.S.
4) We are not planning to stop commiting.
5) We are adding fiat currencies one by one, also we are onboarding not only dash, but also ethereum and litecoin.
6) Yes it will support InstantX
7) Yes, we will be operating masternode and yes we will be sharing masternode rewards.
8) We expect to be have minimum support live by July and full implementation by September (hopefully sooner).

Regards other aspects: key difference between our product and other providers is that we will support instant exchange (i.e. DASH will be automatically exchanged during time of purchase, you will be able to store dash until the last minute). Secondly, we will integrate DASH not only for debit cards, but for all functionality of our system: payment processing to fiat, allowing to purchase dash with bank wire, cash or credit card etc. Also we are a team of 15 people (and we are hiring one more senior developer to focus on other cryptocurrencies including dash), so we will be able to provide the best service in the market.

If you have other questions, please ask here or drop me an email via vytautas@spectrocoin.com

great questions!
i think the reason it is so well supported is because at the time the community did not know that "we are working with other wallet / debit card providers - including ones that plan to implement masternode rewards on deposits, support more currencies, and will issue cards for free to end-users."
there seems to be a lack of communication between the core dev team and the community. we only seem to get answers after lots of whining. the answers we get are usually great (fiat gateway proposal shift) and most people are very happy but the lack of communication leads to problems like this.

someone should have stepped in when this was first proposed and said that we already got something else like this going or are working it.
maybe SpectroCoin should have reached out to the core team to see if they already had something going, maybe they did.

this is not the only proposal that may be redundant to things that are being worked on for evolution.
somebody needs to coordinate it all and figure it out. it looks like that process has started.

Unfortunately, we cannot always be transparent with ongoing negotiations, nor can we reveal the private business plans of our partners. If we were to behave that way, few companies would be willing to engage with us.

SpectroCoin - as far as I am aware - did not engage members of the core team to share their plans. I found out about their proposal the same way as everyone else.

That said, I am trying, now that I am aware of SpectroCoin's proposal, to share what I can with the community that is relevant to the decision. I have posted these questions here and on Dashtalk and am hopeful we will get some responses from SpectroCoin.

"SpectroCoin - as far as I am aware - did not engage members of the core team to share their plans. I found out about their proposal the same way as everyone else."

This is bound to happen more in the future, budget proposals after all are not restricted to be approved first by the dev team and due to this decentralised budget system can pop up anywhere / anytime.

"Unfortunately, we cannot always be transparent with ongoing negotiations"
i'm getting tired of hearing that excuse!
i get that that is sometimes the case but not the answer every time someone drops the ball.
who's in charge of keeping the communication going between the community and the core team? do we need to hire someone?

"now that I am aware of SpectroCoin's proposal"
not saying you're to blame but how is that you are just now hearing about spectrocoin's proposal when it was posted about a month ago?

overall i'm happy and it's not too big of a deal. i understand we are still working out the kinks but it's time we get our act together.
