Proposal description

Dash Core Group October 31st funding proposals

1) DCG Compensation: $512,000 (current proposal)
2) DCG Business Development (payment 2/2): here

This Proposal

This is cross-posted from here

Note on the DCG compensation proposal this month

Last month the Dash community voted on 3 separate DCG compensation proposals.  All 3 proposals passed with overwhelming support from Masternode owners.  Going forward, instead of continuing to breakout our compensation requests, we will only submit one, consolidated compensation proposal to the Dash Network.  In the future, the most direct way for Masternode owners to influence our operations will be by electing Trust Protectors.  Trust Protectors will be elected based on how well their “platform” matches the desires of the network (e.g., “DCG should do x and shouldn’t do y”)  A full description of that process can be accessed at the following link: https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/dash-core-group-legal-structure-details.39848/

What does this specific proposal fund?
This proposal funds Dash Core Group's ongoing compensation costs - including all developers, administrative, business development, marketing and support staff - at market rates for base pay.  As of the end of September, DCG had 50 full-time staff and 12 part-time staff.  The breakdown of the number of staff we have working in each unit is as follows:
Development and Operations:
Full-time: 31
Part-time: 7

Administration:

Full-time: 10
Part-time:  1

Business development / marketing / customer service:

Full-time: 9
Part-time: 4
*  Full-time defined as contracts permitting staff to bill up to 40 hours a week
** Part-time defined as contracts permitting staff to bill less than 40 hours a week

Please note that our current run-rate is $400,000 after taking into account voluntary pay reductions from the Board of Directors and senior management volunteers.  We are asking for pre-pay reduction run-rate funding of $440,000 as well as a buffer to account for price fluctuation and to continue building our compensation account buffer. The total funds requested are $512,000.
If you have any questions, please direct them to @glennaustin in this Dash Forum post to ensure we are notified of your request.

Requested funding is as follows for the October 31st budget cycle:

· 2,855 Dash for core team compensation ($512,000 USD @ $179.3 per Dash)
· 5.00 Dash proposal reimbursement
Total: 2,860 Dash

Note: Should any funding remain, we will apply it toward future compensation expenses.

Glenn, merging again all costs into one proposal seems a bad idea to me. Now you force me to vote for PR, marketing and other wachsmans if I want development to continue. I think DCG should improve its work, different proposals were the way for MNOs to influence on this. NOs from me, I'm sorry.

Hi Semarg. To clarify, we combined only the compensation costs into one proposal (we always had one compensation proposal for all budget cycles with the exception of the breakout last cycle). You still have the opportunity to vote no for PR, marketing and any other initiatives as we separately submit those funding proposals to the network. Those will be distinct from these compensation proposals.

Do we know when we should expect the next updated Roadmap to be released? I saw the png TaoOfSatoshi posted on Reddit in August, but the one on Github from June says it's obsolete and will be updated "as soon as its ready".

YES.. from Sydney, Australia.
Please keep communications flowing Dash Core.
Please keep promote 'InstantSend' for exchanges. Speed matters.
I would like to see DC have a big buffer of funds at some stage (at least a million USD worth).

Thank you for your support Criticalinput. The plan, over time, is to build up at the very least 3 month's buffer in core team salaries which would amount to slightly more than a million USD.

Doesn't this amount breaks the hard cap proposed to keep it under 60% of the available treasury budget. There are currently only 3731 unallocated DASH which your proposal will take around 76% instead of the declared 60%. Can you please clarify this?

Hi JZA. We requested a total of 3,705 (845+2860) Dash out of an available supply of 6,177 which is 60%.

This will compete and knock out several lower voted proposals like Dash Nexus, Dash Watch, Dash.Red and Dash-Hub. There is only ~6100 Dash per month. If I would vote yes on this I need to change my vote on the core biz dev proposal to No....

PhilaDASHia, thank you for the comment. I'm not sure how you calculated that this proposal will crowd out those other proposals. All of those are in the green already and if both this and the other core proposal (biz dev) passes, there should still be over 800 Dash available for other proposals.

Thanks, I see I have not correctly looked at and understood how dashnexus is showing budgets and voting still, I had thought the far right column 3810 Dash were allocated, but now that you have corrected me I see that its 3810 Dash that are available. And you this proposal won't affect the others that are in cycle. You have my support
