Proposal description

This proposal seeks funding for expenses to represent Dash at the All Things Open conference in Raleigh, NC October 26-27, 2016. https://allthingsopen.org/. The conference organizers reached out and asked if someone from Dash would be interested in presenting, with no payment required. Last year attendance was around 1,700 people. They have a blockchain track and there are Bitcoin, Ethereum and Hyperledger presentations already scheduled. This is a great opportunity to present Dash to a potentially new audience.

Perry Woodin from Node40 offered to speak. The 45 minute presentation will be about Dash (using Evan’s Atlanta presentation as the base) with a concentration on how Dash has changed the funding model for development and infrastructure. This aspect should be particularly interesting for the All Things Open audience. Note this will be a presentation about Dash (NOT about Node40).

Conference Website: https://allthingsopen.org/ Funding of this proposal will be for the following expenses:
  1. Air travel: $611.20
  2. Ground transportation in Raleigh: $40 (est)
  3. Lodging: $189 x 2 nights.

Total: $1,029.20

Requested funding is as follows for the October budget cycle:
  1. 89.03 Dash for conference expenses. ($1,029.20 USD @ $11.56 per http://coincap.io on September 22, 2016)
  2. 5.00 Dash reimbursement for the proposal cost.

Definite yes from me, Perry helped me set-up my masternode, and this is a very cost-effective way to spread the Dash gospel. Will the talk be filmed? Could you upload the talk online? I'd be interested to watch it! Thankyou Perry

I will ask the organizer for details about access (either streamed or recorded) and will report back. Thanks for the vote.

Heard back from the organizer. They would like to record all sessions, but they are not sure yet if it will happen. It will come down to a financial decision for them.

All for it. Perry is a good speaker and this cost is reasonable.

Please bring up InstantSend and how it can enable things like the Dash N Drink without double spend risk. I think the instant downloads, instant payments for IOT stuff, and instant settling of payments would appeal to many in the audience.

Thanks for the votes of confidence. I will definitely be talking about InstantSend as there is a strong relationship between the functional features that make Dash unique and the funding model used to incentivize infrastructure and development. InstantSend is a great feature to highlight because it is something the audience can truly see value in. Instant txs versus waiting on a mined block... a no brainer. We just need that one person in the audience to have the ah-ha moment and follow up on the work you guys have already started on the POS side of things.

WAYYYY more affordable, why do we need $15,000 things when we can do this stuff instead? Way more effective, way better ROI.
