Proposal description

A note about budget constrains:

As the voting deadline approaches, we anticipate a high likelihood that there will be a gap where this proposal will fit in the budget, where others will not.  Accordingly, please vote for (or against) this proposal based on its own merits, independent from budget constraints.  Spreadsheet calculations are available to simulate potential outcomes.  I will update it periodically, but it may not be accurate at all times.

Summary

This proposal is co-sponsored by 10+ members of the Dash community.  We are requesting 25 DASH/month for a period of three months to help fund a book giveaway spearheaded by Adam Kokesh.

Who

My name is Rion Gull.  I’ve been actively promoting cryptocurrencies for over 5 years, focusing nearly exclusively on Dash since mid-2016.  In this time I’ve helped a handful of friends and colleagues acquire Dash masternodes.  I am the organizer of the Salt Lake City Dash meetup.  I am submitting this proposal on behalf of 10 co-sponsors from the Dash community (see below for details).  Each co-sponsor has expressed interest in supporting Adam’s book project, and have all donated to fund the proposal fee.   As such, we all have an incentive to make the project a success, and to ensure that Dash is represented well.

Popular liberty activist, Adam Kokesh, has been promoting freedom for many years, gaining and sustaining a substantial following along the way.  He is currently investigating and promoting Dash, and has included an unsolicited (possibly premature?) thank you to our community in his recent post for his BIg Easy Book Bomb.  That project is the subject of this proposal.

What / When / Where

The Steemit post linked to above explains the details of Adam’s project, please read it.  To summarize, Adam will be delivering a copy of his book FREEDOM! to every household in New Orleans prior to the Libertarian National Convention, which takes place June 30 - July 3, 2018 (a list of milestones and deliverables can be found in the Steemit post).

This proposal is to purchase (10) Historic Sponsorships.  This would qualify Dash for a sizable advertisement on the inside cover of the book.  However, there are two issues to consider regarding this.  First, we won’t know if the proposal will pass in time to secure the ad space.  Second, I personally don’t think it would be wise to take the large ad space, even if we could secure it on time.  Many in the Dash community would rather remain politically neutral.  Adam is a political figure (he’ll be running for US President in 2020).  I feel it would be best for Dash to have the same size advertisement as all other donors in this case, even if we contribute more.  This positions Dash less as a primary sponsor, and more as a neutral co-donor, joined by other crypto projects.  I personally feel that Dash stands tallest as a (relatively) silent benefactor - talk softly and carry a big... budget.

Why

There are several reasons for Dash to help fund this project:

  1. Adam has given to Dash; he will likely will continue to give.  Dash should give back.
  2. This project will gain considerable publicity.  Dash will gain users.
  3. To use Dash is to love Dash.  Happy users buy more Dash.  Dash’s price will rise.
  4. Adam’s book advertises Dash, but also freedom.  Dash will grow alongside freedom.

Fleshing out the above, Adam’s project is a labor of love.  I’ve spoken with him several times, his support for Dash is genuine.  He sees its potential and he will likely support Dash even if Dash doesn’t support this proposal.  Adam’s activism played a large role in Ben Swann’s political conversion, which is why we can benefit from his journalism and advertising for Dash.

Adam will be running for President in 2020.  He will surely bring up cryptocurrency and Dash along the way.  He’s vocal and opinionated.  We all have an interest in making sure his opinions and voice are positive for Dash.  Regardless of your view of Adam himself, if he paints Dash favorably we will gain users, which, all other things equal, will increase the value, and hence price of Dash.

It cannot be understated how important it is for people to gain and retain a proper understanding of liberty and freedom in order for projects like Dash to succeed.  The Dash community and MNOs seem to understand this, but reminders don’t hurt.

How (much)

We propose to purchase 10 Historic Sponsorships.  The total is 25 DASH/month for three months, calculated as follows:

  • Each Historic Sponsorship costs 3,000 USD
  • We are proposing to purchase 10 sponsorships
  • We assume a Dash price of 430 USD/DASH
  • Total is 3000*10/430 = 69.8 DASH
  • Split over 3 months, 23.3 DASH/month
  • Round up for contingency, 25 DASH/month

I really love the idea that Dash's ecosystem can fund these types of conversations. I'm reminded of one of Dash's slogans. "Money as a service". Our competitors in centralized banking powered by the U.S. Federal Reserve, contribute to the Left vs. Right paradigm of divisiveness. Dash has the potential of incentivizing proposals that will help shift the conversations toward those rooted in freedom. If this proposal passes maybe we can try to pass another that supports the message of another liberty activist. For example, I'd much rather see a persuasive conversation take place between Larken Rose and Adam Kokesh than any combination of left vs. right candidates around the world. I think this proposal has the potential to bring Dash's message to more people outside of the Crypto space for a reasonable price.

Thanks! I'm really excited to get this first one done because then it will be very easy to replicate in other cities, eventually all over the world!

Please correct me if I am wrong the book is about, him wanting to become president, and removing all form of Government, that kind very big statement ! Personally I don't like Governments especially after figuring out that 9/11 was a false flag and moved deeper into that truth hole.

That being said, I don't think Dash should be donating towards anybody wanting to become a president, it like lobbying, I am against this type of behavior.

Thanks for asking! The book is a philosophical manifesto based on voluntaryism. The only part about the campaign is in the letter in the front. This is not for removing all government, just localizing it for a peaceful transition. You can get the book for free at http://TheFreedomLine.com/freedom

and you can see the platform at

Not that expensive. Great message. This is a very different approach to marketing, and I think a worthwhile experiment. Voting yes.

voting NO sorry Adam. 9/11 lead me down the path of where I am today. I've followed Kokesh (subbed on YT) years back and remember when Kokesh's house got raided etc (they took the silver...not the BTC yada yada). I also unsubbed from Kokesh after he did something I thought was just plain stupid (years back now, I think it was over having in a particular gun in DC vs obvious infringement...I smh ). FWIW, I live in Australia and understand exactly why America has the 2nd amendment and why it should be maintained. Power corrupts indefinitely. Yes, I understand that some laws are worth being defiant over.

I am not for open borders. Borders assist countries to maintain certain aspects (goods / law enforcement / welfare ....yes evil etc!). Notice how cryptocurrency businesses can move from one country to another because of the diverse laws (diversity of governments is best). From China to Singapore to Malta etc.
Humans ARE hierarchical tribal creatures just as you will see gorillas and monkeys. We are emotional, imperfect creatures incapable of forming anything close to "perfect societies" IMHO.

Honestly, it is mainly the open borders advocation (big topic) and even the presidential run to abolish the federal govt. You won't unite intersectional feminists nor Islam. China along with other countries would take up the dominant military role should America drop it's military today. I know your heart is in the right place Adam. I hope I have not misrepresented you. Peace. Respect. I mean it.

Post writing the above >>>>> I went back and listened for the first time to a discussion Kokesh had with Molyneux. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQ3Mqp5bQsg&t=82s . I honestly, would have trouble backing Kokesh in politics. Molyneux smokes Kokesh during the discussion IMHO.

Thanks for engaging here. I'm very surprised you would so grossly misrepresent me. I'm not for open borders, I'm for private property borders and localization as a way to getting there. Stefan was using a lot of straw man arguments. I guess they worked on you. Maybe I should have interrupted him more. As for uniting people, we already are! Localization brings people together. Everyone gets what they want when government is only at the community level.

"grossly misrepresent me" - My full apologies if so. My concern is not over private property borders (I know you respect them and would defend your own). My comment context relates to the national borders around the world. I will dig further.

OK....voting YES. We don't see eye to eye on national borders from what I can detect. Big discussion. That said, I still respect you Adam, and know we have a lot in common. Peace.

Dear AdamKokesh (rion),

I've watched a lot of your videos (I think the first one in 2012/13) and usually like your type of personal humane touch when talking to people on the street. Or dancing in DC.

This proposal on the other hand is a gimmick. And I don't want to spend money on gimmicks.
The book is already available online. There is no further point in dropping them on doorsteps, since they probably will be:
-thrown away
-Put on some shelf and never be read
-Used as a fire agent (hope that's the correct term, you know, to put it in an oven to keep oneself warm. You get the idea)

I would've been more than happy to vote for a "Great American Pilgrimage" like Proposal with you instead of "the lesser" Baldwin.

I'm actually sad to vote NO this time.

Best Regards from Germany

I hope you can see the value in actually putting a book in everyone's hands in one city all at the same time. They're not going to doorsteps, they're going in mailboxes. This is a way to cut through the digital clutter. Most books that get read today are still paper books.

What do you mean by a pilgrimage? I'm open to suggestions!

AnCapitol is talking about "The Great American Pilgrimage" as put on by Max Keiser and Stephen Baldwin. It was a proposal that was funded some time back. Maybe your next proposal might be something similar?

I have not see to much of him but it seems to some what low quality, and it difficult to follow. Unlike Amanda or Ben Swanson he does not really speak to the point, so for that reason I vote against it.

If anybody wants to prove me wrong please provide video's please provide me with so quality video's he made.

Thanks for engaging here. This isn't about videos. It's about a book. But as for both, I think my numbers speak for themselves. And the book is one third as long as Larken's manifesto.

So giving an individual 40K to drop a book on every doorstep in NO (doubtful) and it won't even have the Dash brand anywhere? And I thought the government was wasteful.
Reply
2 points,6 years ago
The Dash brand is in the letter in the proposal and will be a big part of the ad space on the title page and inside the back cover.

Adam hasn't been whitelisted to comment yet, so I may post some replies in his name...

Do I read correctly that you just plan to dump a book in every person's (in New Orleans) mailbox while nobody asked for that? Doesn't that guarantee that 99% will go straight to the trash? Seems very wasteful.
Reply
2 points,6 years ago
Compared to a normal mailing, this doesn't cost much more per unit. How many fliers go straight to the trash compared to what happens when you put a book in everyone's hands and they know that everyone else in the city got the same book at the same time?

Another over promise and under deliver dash proposal. Every home in NO!? Probably close to 100k homes. Just like Adam's friend SovereignBTC this is another attempt to take Dash from the network and give nothing in return. Big no.

This is excellent! Adam is the final piece of the puzzle after Ben Swann and hopefully TFTP and Luke from we are change. With the support of these gentlemen Dash will be the unofficial sponsors of pretty much the whole freedom based independent media movment, and by extension the liberty movement itself, especially with the great work Joel is doing in NH.

With Rory and Chael and the work greencandle is rumoured to be doing we are already the unofficial crypto sponsors of the MMA world (Fastest growing sport in the world).
If these latest proposals pass we will be the unofficial sponsor of one of the biggest grassroots independent media networks in the world.
My dream is for Ben Swann to set up a professional news and entertainment network where they can get the truth out to the masses 24/7 (Eventually). Start with a once a day newscast with the Dash and crypto news of the day with reports from the ground on what we are doing in Venezuela and Africa and interviews with Rory and Chael and take a ride in the Dash Force 1 jet with Scott etc etc etc.

Thank you for your support, Mastermined, and for those interesting observations.

I too am very excited to see so many in the liberty movement finding their way to Dash. This is the "tireless minority keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men" that Samuel Adams spoke of. They are finding their home in Dash.

The trouble I have with this proposal--despite its noble goals and plan--is that as the years go by, fewer and fewer people seem to actually be readers of books. How many of these books will actually be read and seen and not simply discarded or sit unused on a shelf or in a pile somewhere? This isn't so much a comment on the proposal but a statement about the marketplace of ideas. Books seem--at least in my perception--to be dwindling as a major player in information sourcing for the majority of the people we as Dash are trying to reach. For that reason alone, is it really worth the investment? Time will tell, I suppose.

From Adam: Part of the strategy here is to use a book to cut through the digital clutter. Everything else can be ignored, but it's hard to ignore it when someone puts a book in your hands. Of course it's also a gateway to the audiobook and all the other digital formats.
Reply
2 points,6 years ago
This will not reach everyone obviously but with a book this size It isn't intimidating. Books also have a long life span and can be shared over and over again. If you believe in consensual relasionships and personal freedom it's very hard to disagree with the ideas in this book, personal freedom is also the foundation of crypto currency. I agree the cost is a little high (nothing compared to some others) I personally think we could have done better, that being said I support the idea and I see the long term value in this proposal.

I'm not from the US but I liked the idea from the very beginning. I just hope that not too many books will go to waste, because it wouldn't very ecological :-)
I am for and wish Adam success in this endeavour and good luck in promoting freedom.

As Adam said, it will be much harder for folks to throw away a book than it would to throw away a typical bulk mail ad. I think a lot of people will hang on to it even if they don't immediately read it. Then maybe some visiting niece or nephew picks it up when visiting and decides to read it.

Sure, but if we get the big sponsor space, we take the big sponsor space.
Reply
1 point,6 years ago
Technically the deadline for sponsorship purchases is the 26th, so we won't know for sure if it will pass before he has to send of the text to the printer. However, Adam has mentioned to me that if we see convincing voting early on (by the 26th) that he will give Dash the size ad that looks likely to be funded.

I dont understand why he thanked Dash, isn’t that weird? I’d like to know what that is about.

He is running for president, but you could have mentioned that his whole campaign is about him immediately dissolving the US government as soon as he is elected.

Dash made a strong impression on him at Anarchapulco. He thanked us because we are helping him fight for liberty.

Thanks for mentioning his presidential plans. I didn't intentionally omit it, I just like to keep the proposal trim. As you know, MNOs are very busy, and I try to respect that. It's not too hard to find his positions if you're looking for them.
