Proposal description

Why this proposal?

DCG aims to build our reserves to make it much harder get into a state where we were last year.

It created a lot of dread when some MNOs thought devs could not get paid, and a few good devs actually did leave the project for more money. This caused some MNOs to sell, and created a very bad cycle where the lower price hurt dev funding which then caused more and more panic.

A very healthy reserve has shown to instill confidence.

What will happen with the funds from this proposal?

They will go strait to our reserves. This will not finance any other goal.

Why this amount?

Currently there is 632 Dash left to allocate in this cycle. The other proposal for 300 might still pass. Which leaves us with 332.

Why make this proposal so late?

A few MNOs reached out and asked me to make it. I was hesitant, but I agreed that we should at least try.

If you have any questions, please direct them to @quantumexplorer at dashcentral to ensure we are notified of your request.
Requested funding is as follows for the November budget cycle:
  • 331 Dash for additional core team compensation ($27,804.00 USD @ $84.00 per Dash)
  • 1 Dash proposal reimbursement
Total: 332 Dash

What is currently the runrate for DCG ? At what Dash price can DCG build reserves without asking for any leftover funding ?

We are building reserves right now, and will be at any price over around 38$. This is to accelerate the process.

This feels like DCG Additional Budget Proposals all over again, where DCG will claim any leftover funding every month. You personally stopped those additional (leftover) budget proposals for DCG because you wanted to break the cycle of DCG asking for leftover funding month after month after month.
Congratz, you are right back into it.

Voting no.

At times like these (when there is a considerable amount of unallocated leftover budget), i wish we had a Dash Marketing and PR initiative (trustworthy, professional, outsourced by DCG directly) so we could focus on strengthening Dash Marketing and PR in general instead of going almost all-in on development or dedicating funding for future hiring of devs.

The funding allocation between Dash devs funding / development funding and Dash Marketing and PR funding through the Dash DAO is so very unbalanced (very little of the DAO budget ends up allocated to Dash Marketing and PR), with very little signs that this will ever change.

Well the previous one was at 5-7 days from the end of the cycle. And it was because DCG was in really bad shape. Right now we are not in bad shape at all.

This is a proposal for reserves. I won't be upset if it doesn't pass. Me and any dev in DCG won't make more or less with this proposal passing.

I wanted to give the option to the network to accelerate building those reserves. This is just for putting money away for a rainy day.

quoting : A very healthy reserve has shown to instill confidence.

Not if that healthy reserve just disappears over time through pure passivity, untill it is already too late to correct and the only solution turns out be be a doubling of the DAO budget, while still continuing DCG leftover proposals every month.

Honesty, DCG reserves handling has been very problematic in my view.

Has this been discussed with Brian Foster (CTF of DCG) ? He was pretty firm against the idea of increasing DCG weight on the Dash DAO beyond its current Operational budget proposal. He commented on Dash Central personally on a different budget proposal (not from DCG) that was using DCG payout address. He foresaw regulation issues in the future with DCG having an even heavier weigh factor on the Dash DAO, then it currently already has. This feels like a 180 degree turn on his objections.

He was against a proposal not made by DCG that would have had us receive funds for non development purposes. Him and me wouldn't want DCG to receive funds for things not related to development or at least development adjacent. He is not against the supplementals that we did nor is he against this proposal.
