Proposal description

Dash Core Group August 21st Funding Proposals

DCG is submitting only one funding proposal for the budget cycle that pays out August 21st:
1) DCG Operations: 4,832 Dash per month (currently in month 1/4)

What does this specific proposal fund?

This proposal funds Dash Core Group's ongoing operating costs - this includes compensation, legal and infrastructure costs.  This is a single month proposal that will cover operating costs for September 2026 to December 2026.

What is the proposal funding?

As of early April 2026 DCG has 21 paid staff at full time/close to full time associated with the project. In addition, we have 2 volunteers who have decided to work for no compensation and one for very minimal compensation. The amount of developers we currently have is given below.

In November of 2024 we offered some long time contributors a Dash denominated compensation instead of the fiat based compensation. Many took this when the price of Dash was around 25$ even when taking at the same time a 10% reduction in the total compensation.

We estimate that our projected run-rate for September for compensation will be around 2250 Dash for Dash denominated compensation and $99000 for Fiat based compensation. Our infrastructure cost is at around $4,000 for August. We are also spending around 4k USD/month for AI tools and licenses. This puts our break even price at around 37$ / Dash.

With this current proposal, we are asking for total funding of the equivalent of $149,792 per month.

This is 7% less than the previous quarter as Dash just had it's yearly "halving".

What does DCG's current structure look like?

DCG has evolved to primarily be a tech focused organization that can be grouped into 2 main parts, technology and technology support.

Technology:

  • CTO Samuel Westrich - quantumexplorer (making this proposal)

Core:
  • Lead C++ Software Engineer (Pasta)
  • Lead C++ Software Engineer (UdjinM6)
  • Senior C++ Software Engineer (Knst)

  • Senior Rust Software Engineer (Dustinface)
  • Rust Software Engineer (Borja)
Mobile:
  • Lead Android Software Engineer and Principal Developer (HashEngineering)
  • Sr. iOS Software Engineer (Bartozs)
  • iOS Software Engineer (new - Roman)
  • UX/UI Engineer
Platform Team:
  • Senior Rust Software Engineer (Lukasz)
  • Lead Software Engineer (Ivan)
  • (CTO is heavily working on Platform)

@PO
Last year after a couple of Tokenomics-related proposals failed, including the one from pmbf, you held out the prospect of submitting your own decision proposal about the future & direction of this project in regards to block reward allocation and you gave a vague timeline of summer 2026. What happened?
The upcoming annual reduction of 1/14th (or -7.14%) is hitting hard, especially when considering all the evaporated value of Dash price on top of it. Most all of the MNO are in it for the money, the income and we have bills to pay.
What has become the status quo - and i know this worries several other MNO as well - is that 110% of development resources seem to go straight into Platform/EVO while at the same time seemingly 0% of development resources are allocated to L1/Core. And it feels so wrong, imbalanced and outright unreasonable.
Neglecting L1/Core over the course of months and years is something really heartbreaking to witness.
I will make a few examples of what i specifically mean:
1) The 1010 Duffs chargeback bug is still not entirely fixed, i experienced it myself recently upon requesting an EVO withdrawal
2) Although we abandoned CoinJoin, as nobody uses it and was barely usable for being so lame and costly, CoinJoin has not been cleanly removed from our codebase, the protocol and help
3) So far no willingness to finally transition to pure PoSe, despite being a Masternode coin and having all the technological maturity to engage in secure block production
Look, we all know about your commitment, the sacrifices and all the effort you put into delivering Platform/EVO and we also know, somebody else probably couldn´t have done it or succeeded with delivering Platform/EVO, only you.
And that is why the overwhelming majority of MNO (me included) are deeply grateful to you for everything you accomplished since you took over. I can say with confidence that you enjoy the trust of at least 90% of the MNO to this day.
This overwhelming trust in you is precisely the reason why the MNO approved the doubling of the monthly budget from 10% to 20% when you asked for it, so that DCG wouldn´t have to fire anyone or let go of experienced Devs whenever Dash price is weak.
But this expanded monthly budget along with an additional 240 Dash being dumped in the marketplace EVERY SINGLE DAY by the shady Miners Cartel is totally decimating Dash price and our market-cap, to the point it has become completely unsustainable. On the current trajectory, there is a real risk we are headed towards sub-$20 again !
At least 40% of issued coins (plus the minimal selling by the MNO) being constantly dumped, is just not sustainable long-term for a coin which has minimal demand in the marketplace, because of our persisting Marketing shortcomings.
The launch of Platform/EVO was already two (!) years ago and we probably should have moved way faster with transitioning to PoSe, already last year if it were feasable.
To many of us MNO it is preposterous that despite of our technological maturity and despite the Masternodes could easily obtain the ability for secure block production, we continue outsourcing the block production to the Miners Cartel, willfully renouncing to urgently-needed income for the 'benefit' of having our price constantly hammered without mercy or interruption. It hardly makes any sense if you are honest to yourself and to us !
Ethereum has had the courage to make the necessary step, already many years earlier.
And i´m certainly not the only MNO who would wish for a little more courage to bring this project forward.
Just like the MNO have trust in you, you should also have trust in us MNO being able to comprehend that 40%+ of new coins being constantly dumped is becoming completely unsustainable and which steps are the natural ones to mitigate a further collapse of our price and market-cap.

For the sake of the more technologically-savvy MNO please clarify, why it was necessary to move the randomness/entropy from Miners to Masternodes, and how something like that can even be used on a deterministic list, as the two concepts seem to be diametrically opposed.
Can PoSe-based block production even be done securely on a deterministic list, if it invites potential DDoS attacks?
But if you deem PoSe-based block production being secure only if the production node is selected randomly, could you please explain to us MNO, whether this would basically mean the end of the deterministic list?
