Proposal description

Dash Core Group December 26th Funding Proposals

DCG is submitting 2 funding proposals for the budget cycle that pays out December 26th:
1) DCG Compensation: 5,112 Dash per month (currently in month 1/3)
2) DCG Supplemental proposal: TBD on amount.

What does this specific proposal fund?

This proposal funds Dash Core Group's ongoing compensation costs - including all developers, administrative, and support staff.  This is a multi-month proposal that will cover compensation for January through March 2023.

What is the proposal funding?

As of December 1st, 2023, DCG has 20 paid staff at full time/close to full time associated with the project and 4 part time contributors. In addition, we have 3 volunteers who have decided to work for no compensation and 2 people who has decided to work at minimal compensation. The amount of developers we currently have is given below.

We estimate that our projected run-rate for December will be around $121,000. With this current compensation proposal, we are asking for total funding of $178,906 per month. If this proposal passes we will be receiving more than our base run rate for the first time in the last year.

How will DCG use funds that surpass the projected run rate?

DCG's reserves were effectively empty as of December. The situation leading up to the doubling of the treasury was a difficult time with many contributors deferring part of their compensation for November. The current immediate goal is to make these people whole. Our next goals are to build up a little buffer again and to hire for any critical roles. Currently the only critical hire is 1 infrastructure engineer.

What does DCG's current structure look like?

DCG has evolved to primarily be a tech focused organization that can be grouped into 2 main parts, technology and technology support.

Of course, I support the team’s salary, but I also expect honest work and full dedication from the employees.
Investors are exhausted and waiting for profit!
The indicator of your work is the capitalization and price of DASH.

Many falsehoods in the above statement, worst of them is this line.

> The indicator of your work is the capitalization and price of DASH.

Which is demonstrably false, eg $PEPE, $BONK, $SILLY and many others, this space simply does not value hard work, instead it is a semi-legal casino where people try to make that 1000x return, though most lose everything trying.

Could you please be more specific on where these money will be spend?

How much on core dev?

How much on platform dev?

How much on support?

Complicated to say when some people work on multiple parts of the project like me and a few others, but roughly I would estimate it to be about 25% Core, 33% Platform, 22% Mobile, 20% Support.

I'd like to see Core increased, since they are the breadwinners, mobile can increase too, while Platform should be decreased.

Thank you for revealing the numbers.

CORE (5 persons) 25% - 1278 Dash/month - 255 Dash(or 8415 USD) average monthly salary per person

PLATFORM (7 persons) 33% - 1687 Dash/month - 241 Dash(or 7953 USD) average monthly salary per person

MOBILE (4 persons) 22% - 1124 Dash/month - 281 Dash(or 9273 USD) average monthly salary per person

SUPPORT (14 persons) 20% - 1022 Dash/month - 73 Dash(or 2409 USD) average monthly salary per person

So is the above correct?

No not at all, I estimated for a lot of people in "Support" the area that they support, and moved them to partially be in those positions, because I wanted to give a good estimate about what each team costs. What I left in support was documentation, HR, Tech support, Website and Infrastructure. QA, project management and me and Brian I moved to teams.

Also you are dividing 5,112 Dash between these people when I said: "We estimate that our projected run-rate for December will be around $121,000. With this current compensation proposal, we are asking for total funding of $178,906 per month."

Average dev compensation is very roughly equal between teams. I do not make more than senior devs either.

As expected, my caclulations were wrong.

Could you please post the table of the accurate calculation, similar to the above table.

Or even better, a table like this:

We can't publicly disclose team level salary totals because that would lead to individual team members having visibility to average salaries per person which is private/sensitive information. As already described in this proposal, these funds are being used to support our current compensation run rate, our future run rate so we can hire another infra resource, and funds to make the team whole for deferred and reduced salaries and to start building up our reserves again.

Over the past few months in particular, the teams at DCG have been tremendously generous and dedicated by deferring and taking reduced pay; they need to be made whole.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?????

DCG IS NOT A PRIVATE COMPANY!!!

IT IS A DASH PUBLIC SECTOR COMPANY, THUS ALL SALARIES SHOULD BE DISCLOSED!!!!

You need to complete what you are working on.
And don’t start anything else, but direct all the money to marketing and powerful advertising.

You vampires have sucked up the entire budget and will endlessly demand money
for meaningless developments that do not attract new investors.

Investors are very upset that the constantly empty treasury negatively affects the value of DASH
and there is nothing to run powerful advertising on!

We haven't added a new feature to Platform in many months, we're just working to get everything stable and working right now with the features we decided on. I apologize for how long this is taking, trust me I wish it was faster.

We see your insatiable thirst for dollars, but investors should not suffer!
Get the number of coins at the rate of $1000 per 1 DASH, that's fair!
You claim $156,666 and receive 156.66 DASH !!!
Maybe then you will start to think about the state of the treasury and the global and professional advertising of DASH, which will cause a commensurate increase in price.

As a organization that needs to pay people in exchange for work they do for the network we request money from the treasury. I don't understand what you mean by my thirst for dollars or how you are coming to that conclusion. I just want to continue work for the network and be able to pay people for that work.

Please explain.
1) Every month 157189 USD from the budget ?
2) How will your work affect the price of DASH coin ?

Looks like even with a doubling with the Treasury and a much higher DCG Compensation request (5112 dash for three months), DCG will continue launching DCG Supplemental proposals.
That is disappointing to see.
Reply

The supplemental requests will only go on the time needed to rebuild our buffer. Once we have a small buffer we will start backfilling positions so we can increase our delivery speed. So by having those supplementals we can start growing again sooner.

If you want to regain my support, please more clear in your next Dash Core Group Platform and Core Developement Update about upcoming Dash Core v20.1

How close to completion is that update ?
Will v20.1 activate the Platform features or will activation of Platform features get postponed to v21 ?

Untill i get a more clear picture of the status and substance of Dash Core v20.1, i will vote option 'abstain'.

To be clear : i am talking about the currently dormant laying Platform features in Dash Core v20 that were planned for activation through a Dash Core v20 spork, but which was postponed by DCG to either v20.1 or v21, due to a lack of testing.

I watched latest Dash Core Group Platform and Core Developement Update and could not help but notice how Pasta pretty much skipped discussing mn_rr feature (which will activate Platform features in Dash Core v20) in its entirety.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7-XT-d5vEo&t=1926s
timestamp 30:13 - 31:18

mn_rr feature now looks to be placed somewhere between v20.1.x and v21
and yet does not seem to be specifically a part of v20.1.x

The EHF will activate either in v20.x or v21, more likely in v21 since Platform is not ready for mainnet yet, there something you can do however, and that is to help with testing as much as possible, reporting the bugs you find will get us to mainnet sooner.

I guess mn_rr feature could be intended for a v20.2 or v20.3
