Proposal description

Many MNOs do not vote due to fears related to privacy. ZKPs would anonymize voting, providing privacy, protecting MNOs when they vote. Protecting voters with ZKPs would improve the DAO by providing privacy for voters, which would improve participation.

This proposal instructs DCG to research and implement ZKPs (Zero Knowledge Proofs) for voting on treasury proposals. Support this proposal to mandate DCG to include ZKPs for treasury voting for Dash Core v23.

Discussion: Should we fund this proposal?

I'm all in for ZK for privacy but not if its aimed or rather focused for voting. And i doubt the reason for low participation is privacy. Many just don't care , dont have the time or its to complicated to do so. Rather make the tools easier. Like bring the voting to mobile or something.

You can't force a DAO to do something, you can request it, or create a team to implement it and ask for funding. I think it'd be great to have this though. We are limited with funds and people power though. It's not possible to blink and voila it's done like Jeanie.

I did try telling you, how accurate was my prediction?

Making a vote non traceable to the MNO performing the vote is a feature we intend to pursue regardless of this proposal passing or not. While it is not the highest priority right now, one team member in research did already spend about a month investigating it so far.

The idea would be that we would only do this on the Evo Platform Chain when/if we migrate all the DAO to there. If we were to migrate the DAO to the Evo Platform chain writing this functionality in Core C++ would be a waste. We also need to be realistic that it might not be feasible with the manpower we currently have in the Core team and the work they already have planned for v23.

How would moving the entire DAO to the Evo Platform Chain not exclude all 1K Regular Masternodes from voting and participating in the DAO?

Because 1k nodes are plebs to the gentrification of the dash network. Same true for why they can vote on usernames but not reap the rewards.. "one rule for thee but not for me".

1k nodes can participate in many Platform operations, including voting.

..but are rewards shared with 1K nodes?

You answer is irrelevant to his argument!

Yet, this irrelevant argument received 3 positive ratings.

Stupid the one who argues, more stupid the ones who rate.

This remembers me Minautor, the once upon times manager of the lamassu project, who received a lot of possitive ratings to whatever bullshit he was saying. https://www.dash.org/forum/index.php?threads/dash-core-team-accountability-and-lack-of-communication.12567/page-2#post-111016

And we all know, where Minautor is now.

1k nodes are already voting on contested resources. You can see them vote on this site: https://dash.vote/?fetch=EgZzdGV2ZW4=

Both 1k nodes and 4k nodes reap the benefit of the higher rewards paid on Platform, as more 1k nodes convert to 4k nodes to take advantage of those rewards, the rewards for the 1k cohort also increase, ultimately, the two pools will be finely balanced earning similar amounts.

I thought the fee for registering usernames went exclusively to platform nodes?

Seems reasonable to me

DCG people are stupid.

They cannot solve the Zero Knowledge Proof problem, no matter how much you mandate them.

So instead of mandating DCG something that they cannot handle, you should rather cut some of their compensation, and allocate a grant to whoever manages to solve the ZKP problem.

How much this rant should be?

Lets vote the numbers.
